what is ielts
IELTS (International English Language Testing System) is a recognised evaluation of a candidate's proficiency in all aspects of the English language. The exam covers four modules of language skills which will be commonly encountered by the candidate whilst working or training in the UK. The modules are: Speaking, Listening, Academic Reading and Academic Writing. Candidates receive scores for each module on a band scale from 1 to 9. There is no pass or fail mark.

why do i need ielts
Overseas candidates who reside outside the European Economic Community must sit the exam to prove their English language competency before being considered for registration with professional bodies such as the GMC (General Medical Council) thus enabling them to practice in the UK. The minimum IELTS test scores accepted by the GMC are: Speaking 7.0, Listening 6.0, Academic Reading 6.0 and Academic Writing 6.0. Overall test score: 7.0.

how much does ielts cost?
The cost of the IELTS examination is currently £78.00 GB sterling. International test fees vary subject to exchange rates and administration but the fee is roughly the same. For example, the IELTS test fee in Pakistan is currently Rs. 6000 and in India it is Rs. 5250.

how long is the ielts certificate valid for?
A candidate's IELTS test results are valid for up to two years from the date which appears on the IELTS certificate.
