BMA
British Medical Association. The British Medical Association
is a professional association of doctors, representing their
interests and providing services for its 123,000 plus members.
British Council
The British Council is the UK's international organisation for
educational opportunities and cultural development and is represented

The College of Optometrists
The College of Optometrists administers the examination for

International English Language Testing System. The IELTS examination
is a professionally recognised assessment of a candidate's proficiency

National Health Service. The National Health Service provides
healthcare for all UK citizens. The NHS is funded by the tax
payer and managed by the Department of Health.
NMC
Nursing and Midwifery Council. The Nursing and Midwifery Council
replaced the UKCC and National Boards of Nursing as the governing
body of nursing in the UK
MDU
Medical Defence Union. The Medical Defence Union is a non-profit
organisation which provides professional indemnity to its members
and defends claims of medical negligence.
RCN
Royal College of Nurses. The Royal College of Nurses represents
nurses and nursing, promotes excellence in practice and shapes
health policies in the UK.
RPSGB
Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain. The RPSGB is
the regulatory and professional body for pharmacists in England,
Scotland and Wales.
UCAS
Universities and Colleges Admissions Service. The body to which
students apply to undertake pre-registration degree courses.
WHO
World Health Organisation. Listings of overseas universities
whose primary medical qualifications are accepted by the GMC
for the purpose of limited registration.
